I spend most of my spare time at circus school doing things that are way outside my comfort zone - but that’s exactly why I go. I enjoy cooking, singing, photography, juggling and aerial arts. I live in Brookline, MA with my husband, three children, three cats, a dog and six chickens. When I stepped back from Magic Beans, I was looking to do more of that kind of work, and so I went back to school to study facilitation and coaching. I also completed a fellowship in nonprofit board leadership through OnBoard in 2015. At Magic Beans, I loved thinking about how to create strong, cohesive and high-performing teams, and how to make meetings more efficient, engaging and impactful. I have worked on many projects, from print publications to large-scale consumer events to mobile app development, and I've consulted with manufacturers on product development and marketing strategy. In 2004, I founded Magic Beans with my husband and helped grow it from a small startup to an award-winning toy and baby gear retailer with multiple store locations and over $10 million in annual revenue. I started my career as a branding copywriter, working with clients like Nokia and IBM/Lotus. Over the course of my career, I've worn many different hats, including entrepreneur, head honcho, HR manager, marketing guru, design director, toy scout, stroller matchmaker and gift wrap ninja. I love creating space for ideas to emerge. I am a trained facilitator and coach with over 18 years of experience in management, business development, brand development and change work.

When you’re working on a file on your computer, it will temporarily store data in your RAM. Every computer has both primary and secondary storage it’s necessary for saving files and running tasks and applications. Any file you create or save on your computer saves there temporarily. Random Access Memory, or RAM, is the primary storage of a computer–the hardware where the operating system (OS), application programs and data in current use are kept so they can be quickly reached by the device's processor. Primary storage in computer systems: Random Access Memory Computer Storage: RAM and external storage devices It’s also helpful if you ever need to set up a new computer or laptop: Instead of tracking down all of your content from various drives or cloud accounts, Backup gets your new computer up and running in a few clicks. Dropbox Backup–which is part of all our plans–can eliminate the headaches of a broken, lost, or stolen computer by automatically backing up a copy of your files and folders that you can quickly recover from the cloud. Online BackupĬloud storage is a great solution for storing individual files and folders, but you should also secure all your content using online backup. Dropbox–a cloud storage provider where you can utilize 5 terabytes (TB) and up of storage– doesn’t use up any of your computer disk space. These risks don’t exist for cloud storage-your data is backed up and accessible whenever and wherever you are so long as you have access to the internet.ĭigital data storage is measured in megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), and terabytes (TB). In the era of remote work, cloud computing is thriving: It acts as a bridge between async workers, making collaboration from afar–such as transferring a large file to a colleague–a breeze.Ĭrucially, if you break or lose a hard drive or USB flash drive, it’s unlikely you’ll ever get that data back. (It also won’t leave you in a pinch: Our founder actually invented Dropbox after forgetting his USB flash drive for an important out-of-state meeting!) Cloud storage saves you from having to hunt through your devices to find the right file, and allows you to travel light. This option boasts significantly larger storage capacity than physical options such as USB flash drives, hard disk drives (HDDs) and solid state drives (SSDs). Because cloud storage keeps everything online, it doesn’t consume any of your computer’s secondary storage, allowing you to save space. When you save a document to the cloud, you’re storing it on these servers. “The cloud” is not one place, but a huge collection of servers housed in data centers around the world. Cloud storageĬloud storage is the newest, most versatile type of data storage. Here, we’ll break down your choices–from cloud storage to hard drives. There are plenty of options at every price point for stashing files while saving storage space on your computer, phone, or tablet. It’s worth remembering, though, that storage capacity is no longer dependent on the capacity of your computer. Figuring out how to store precious photos and important files can feel overwhelming. The game plays out in a semi-open world, making players explore different parts of the areas which can sometimes lead to abandoned structures, campsites or little crevices that only Bullet can access. This person can also act as a foil for conversation and help maintain the banter for the group. Ask a colleague to step in and manage muting, questions and platform issues so you can concentrate. If you’re entertaining, you won’t have the bandwidth to troubleshoot. The more people talk and interact, the more fun they’ll have – but if you don’t keep the conversation going, the momentum will wane. Get them competing with and talking to each other. Ask people to comment in the chat window. If you’re the emcee, think of yourself as the session entertainment. Games are boring when all you do is call numbers. If more than one person bingos at once, you’ll create more goodwill if you let everyone win. Important: Be sure to budget for multiple winners at the same time. More flexible? Consider bigger gifts for more complex games ($25 for a simple bingo, $50 for a shape game, $75 for a blackout card) to increase excitement and stickiness. Sweet Home 3D is an excellent solution for all those that daydream about redesigning their home, or even for professionals that need a basic mock-up. Sweet Home 3D is an easy to learn interior design application that helps you draw the plan of your house in 2D, arrange furniture on it and visit the results in 3D. The fact that it's based on Java shouldn't put you off either - it works very smoothly with virtually no delays in placing furniture or creating previews. You can take a photo of your finished design, which you can then send on to friends to view who won't need Sweet Home 3D to view it. Unfortunately, the graphics on Sweet Home 3D are not great - many pieces of furniture look blocky, but its designed to give an idea of what an arrangement will look like rather than a perfect picture. These are the basics and Sweet Home 3D is extremely easy to get to grips with. They've also added a much needed auto recovery function if Sweet Home 3D crashes. This includes a new ability to handle rounded walls, the possibility to store points of view, a new compass and even light and sun management to accurately show how your designs react under different conditions. The latest version adds a new level of realism to Sweet Home 3D. Once you've done this, use the virtual visit tool to get a 3D preview of what it looks like and talk a walk around. To create your rooms, all you need to do is drag and drop elements into the grid view and you'll see them building up 3D in the viewing screen below. Sweet Home 3D offers more than 50 different pieces of furniture, ranging from beds to lamps and desks tables, but you can import even more from the developer's website. |
